Choosing An Above Ground Swimming Pool
With the internet now one of our favourite methods of buying practically everything, it has become extremely easy to make quick decisions and buy items within minutes. This works fine for small items of little significance, but for something as substantial as an above ground swimming pool you need to take a more measured approach when choosing your pool.
Decide What It Will Be Used For! The first thing to do is decide exactly how the pool will be used. Will you want to actually swim in it or will it just be somewhere for the kids to play and splash around in. If you're thinking of using it for exercise purposes, you need to be looking at the larger, deeper pools and possible opt for a more expensive in-ground option. If it's mostly just going to be a place to cool off during the hot summer months, then an above ground pool is probably going to be the most cost effective option.
For a pool that you can use all year round, it would be more prudent to opt for an in-ground pool for durability during the colder months. From an aesthetic point of view, an in ground pool it may look better too, but building it will be a lot more effort and will also cost much much more in many cases. One main consideration here to is that there will be a long delay from ordering it to using it also so you'll need to plan for around 6 months or even a year in advance to get it.
There's one thing for sure, with above ground pools, you don't have this problem. They also have the benefit that they can be erected and taken down very quickly if they are only needed for a few months of the year. The down side is they don't look quite as good and you are limited to a few particular shapes and sizes, whereas an in ground pool can be built to exactly your specifications.
Ultimately, before you buy your pool you need to work out exactly what you want from a pool and then choose whichever type, design and size is best for you. One other thing to consider is if you are planning to move house soon for example, an above ground pool will definitely be for you as you can take it with you, but while if you are staying put for a long time and can afford the installation and running costs of an in-ground pool, then this might be the better option.
